Welcome to the 2023-2024 Learn to Skate Program

To complete registration through our secure site, please have your Visa, MasterCard, or Discover information available. Upon completion of registration, a charge from Lakeland Arena will appear on your account.

 

 

You may only sign up for one session at a time.

Learn to Skate Registration Information

The Lakeland Skating Program is designed to serve the needs of both recreational and competitive skaters. The curriculum and experienced coaching staff keeps skaters enthusiastic about learning from the time they begin lessons until the time they reach their goals.

This exciting program consists of:

  • Snow Plow Sam (3-5 yrs.) 
  • Basic Skills (6 -13 yrs.)
  • Synchronized Skating* (Saturday only) 
  • Hockey Skills (6-13 yrs.)
  • Adult (14  yrs. and up)
    • *Synchronized skating teaches skaters how to work together as a team and skate elements that are performed in a synchronized manner. Must also enrolled in a Basic 2-PreFree class as well.

Class Structure:

  • Snow Plow Sam classes- 25 minutes of lesson/ice time with assistants 
  • Basic / Hockey / Adult classes- 20 minutes of lesson time and 35 minutes of practice ice time with assistants
  • Progress report and Report card provided
  • Upon the completion of each level, skaters will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and techniques to advance to the next Basic Skill level.
  • Once all Basic Skill levels have been completed, skaters have the opportunity for our ASPIRE program and/or private lessons at a competitive level. 

Registration requirements:

  • Current annual Learn to Skate USA membership number 
  • Select class level:
    • Children ages 3 -5 register in the  Snow Plow Sam 1 Class.
    • Children ages 6 and above register in either Basic 1 or Hockey 1 Classes.
    • Skaters 14 and above register in the Adult level classes
  • Select session and day for class
  • Sign waiver and concussion form
  • Payment

Items needed for class:

  • Helmets are required for the Snow Plow Sam classes, Hockey classes and recommended for all first time skaters.  
  • Snow pants, jackets, and gloves are recommended. Dress warm and in layers.
  • Rental skates are available at the Pro Shop within Lakeland Arena. The cost is $5.00 each rental.

CLASS TIMES (Thursday or Saturday)

  • THURSDAY
    • 5:20-5:50 p.m. -Snow Plow Sam 1-3
    • 5:50-6:50 p.m. -Basic/Hockey/Pre-Free skate/Power Skate/Adult
  • SATURDAY
    • 9:20-9:50 a.m. -Snow Plow Sam 1-3
    • 9:50-10:50 a.m. -Basic/Hockey/Pre-Free skate/Power Skate/Adult

Learn to Skate USA Membership

All participants in our program must have a current Learn to Skate USA membership number.

To register we have provided a link on the following page that will take you to the Learn To Skate USA website.

  • Each skater must have his/her own skating number
  • Use your skater's name when registering
  • Annual Membership fee is $18.50 (Includes a welcome email & packet with their member card and number, skater record book, parent handbook, Learn to Skate USA magazine, sports accident insurance and information about skating)
  • Select Lakeland Skating Program when finding a program
  • Record your number to insert in the box provided in the next section
  • Learn to Skate USA members must re-register after June 30th every year, and the registration will be valid until June 30th of the following calendar year 

Ice Show Interest

The Spring Ice Show is a wonderful experience for a skater to show-off their skills with a fun routine! Our show this spring is Mary Poppins Returns. (March 16-17)

 

To be eligible to skate in the show, the skater needs to enroll in either Session 1 or 2 of the current season.

Registration and Payment

In order to participate in the Learn to Skate program, all skaters must be registered and pay the registration fee online to Lakeland Arena. Please register your skaters 24 hours prior to the start of each session. Pro-rates and make-up classes are not offered for late registration.
