This program is designed to teach children between ages 4 and 14 the basics of learning how to skate and to prepare them to play hockey. We teach from the ground up starting with learning how to stand and balance to pushing off and gliding. As the child progresses they move into the more advanced skill classes. The classes will be 50 minutes long divided up into groups by skill. The groups will be decided by our staff and may change within the session. The first group will be for the very beginners who have little to no experience on the ice, to the last group which will be preparing them to join hockey teams. The drills in last group will be more challenging and new skills will be developed like stopping both ways, crossovers, backwards skating as well as beginning hockey skills. Please be aware that it usually takes several sessions to advance from group to group.
This program uses on ice volunteers, if you play hockey and are interested in volunteering, please be sure to sign the volunteer waiver.
