Lakeland Learn to Play Hockey Program

This program is designed to teach children between ages 4 1/2 and 12 the basics of stick handling, improve their skating  and to prepare them to play hockey.    As the child progresses with their skating and stickhandling they move into the more advanced skills classes.  The classes will be 50 minutes long divided up into groups by skill.  The groups will be decided by our staff and may change within the session.  The first group will be for the very beginners who have little to no experience on the ice with sticks and pucks, to the last group which will be preparing them to join hockey teams.  The drills in the last group will be more challenging and new skills will be developed like stopping both ways, crossovers, backwards skating as well as beginning hockey skills. Please be aware that it usually takes several sessions to advance from group to group.

This program uses on ice volunteers, if you skate and have any hockey experience and are interested in volunteering, please be sure to sign the volunteer waiver.  Bring your skates, stick and helmet to join the fun.  We are always looking for people to help.  Be a coach of tomorrow!

The Learn to Play Hockey program is offered  Tuesday evenings at 5:20 p.m. and Saturday mornings at 9:40 a.m..

Players are required to have full ice hockey equipment.
